Maine Summer Photography Workshop

An intensive, week-long workshop in Rockland, Maine, led by Victor J. Blue and Mike Kamber, where students
will create a photo story and engage in nightly review and discussion.

The Bronx Documentary Center has offered a wide range of workshops designed to support photographers and storytellers at all levels. From hands-on technical training to discussions on access and observation, our past workshops have covered essential aspects of documentary and street photography. Notable sessions include Getting Close: Access, Observation & the Documentary Image with Joseph Rodríguez, Art & Technique in the Practice of Street Photography with Richard Sandler, Getting Access with Carolyn Cole and Todd Heisler, and Documentary Photography in the Digital Era with Xyza Cruz Bacani.

For those interested in film photography, Brian Young has led in-depth workshops on black-and-white gelatin silver printing and advanced darkroom techniques. Other specialized offerings have included a Ground Zero Photo Walk with Michael A. McCoy, a zine-making workshop as part of the Latin American Foto Festival, and a One-Day Film Workshop with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ross Kauffman.

Our educational programming extends beyond photography, with digital photography introductions, FAFSA completion workshops, and cellphone photography courses through Everyday Bronx. We’ve also provided workshops tailored for seniors, intensive editing sessions, and masterclasses such as Introduction to Lighting with Andrew French.

For Spanish-speaking participants, we have hosted a range of courses, from beginner photography to advanced black-and-white analog techniques, ensuring accessibility to diverse communities.
