The BDC is Hiring a Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving


The BDC has grown from its inception to a $1.5 million organization; in October 2021 we will celebrate our 10th year anniversary. The new Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving will play a key role in strengthening and further developing the BDC’s fundraising program, helping take the organization to its next level of growth. 

Overview

The Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving will design and implement a comprehensive development strategy with particular emphasis on growth in individual and corporate donors. The Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving will also supervise the Development and Communications Coordinator and will be responsible for the organization’s communications strategy. The Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving will be an integral member of the senior leadership team at the BDC.

Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement strategy for individual giving, including events, membership, and online fundraising campaigns, and work with the Development team to ensure coordination with overall development strategy.

  • Lead the BDC’s communications efforts including electronic and printed newsletters, funding appeals, and social media.

  • Oversee, develop, and manage all aspects of the BDC’s Annual Photo Auction, including the Board of Directors’ Fundraising Committee, and cultivation of support from the Board, corporations and other friends of the BDC.

  • Expand the BDC’s fundraising capacity by engaging Board Members and the Executive Director in the ongoing solicitation and cultivation of individual gifts and corporate support.

  • Foster a culture of fundraising among staff evidenced by a majority actively participating in fundraising efforts, including the annual auction and VIP exhibition previews, among others.

  • Supervise Development and Communications Coordinator.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and rules regarding all individual giving and communications activity.

Skills and Abilities

The candidate should possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to be persuasive in both written and verbal communications.

  • Strong networking, presentation, and relationship-building expertise.

  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative, team environment and also work independently. 

  • Knowledge of documentary photography and film is preferred

  • Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc)

  • Experience with Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc) is preferred

  • Proficiency using online databases, CRM databases, and point of sales (POS) systems 


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising from individuals and corporations, preferably in an education or arts organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.

  • Proven ability to develop highly effective individual and corporate giving strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability developing proposals in a clear and compelling manner, with a proven track record of success. 

  • Proven track record of prospecting, cultivating and closing significant gifts. 

  • Experience developing and maintaining an organizational communications strategy preferred.

  • Ability to work closely with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated awareness of incorporating racial/cultural/socioeconomic equity and justice into communications and individual giving;

  • Experience in both remote and in-person event planning and execution, with an understanding of relevant technological resources.

  • Knowledge of Spanish a plus.

  • Substantial experience managing donor databases. Available to work weekends and/or evenings, as needed.


Time Commitment:

Commitment of 40 hours per week is required; depending on event schedules and other commitments, there may be some flexibility in arrival and departure times.


Salary:
$70,000 - $80,000
