Día de los Muertos: Covid Memorial
228.00 lives lost.
Not just a number.
The Bronx Documentary Center has partnered with nonprofit organizations Naming the Lost, Mazarte Dance Company, and Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders to celebrate the lives of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19. We decided to take advantage of the Day of the Dead festival that is celebrated from October 28 to November 2 to honor with dignity the memory of those community members that we have lost during the pandemic. The Day of the Dead is celebrated in Mexico and in many parts of Latin America and according to legend, our loved ones visit us during those days.
To participate: Pick up coloring page (s) to decorate and to write the name of your loved ones. Drop off the page (s) once you have painted or decorated them and we will hang them. Please email email@example.com with a photo / name / age / and date the person passed away to add to the BDC's slide show. We will project the names on the BDC gallery window at 614 Courtlandt Ave, Bronx.
